An experimental night with Woolwich-raised poet and sound artist MA.MOYO (AKA Belinda Zhawi) that fuses archival audio of Black radicals with original poetry, city versus nature soundscapes, and sampled music.
Also featured on the night is poet and interdisciplinary artist mandisa apena– a Cancer sun from South London whose works involves thoughts on herbalism, dreams and nature worship.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
MA.MOYO (Belinda Zhawi) – A Zimbabwean born writer, sound artist and educator currently based in London. Her work explores Afro-diasporic research and narratives, and how art and education can be used as intersectional tools. Belinda also has a presence as MA.MOYO, experimenting with sound within South-East London’s jazz and beat-making scene.
Zhawi is the co-founder of literary arts platform BORN::FREE and author of Small Inheritances (ignitionpress, 2018) and South of South East (Bad Betty Press, 2019). Her work has been featured on various platforms including The White Review, NTS, Boiler Room and BBC Radio 3, 4 and 6.
Mandisa Apena- A South London raised interdisciplinary artist and part-time vegan interested in herbalism, dreams, nature and connection. Apena has a self published poetry book called ‘and twice as bitter’ (2016), as well as being published in places like Arcadia Missa, Bad Betty and Flipped Eye. They have performed at venues like the Barbican as part of the Barbican Young Poets as well as the ICA and the Poetry Library. Apena is also the founder and host of Hot 4 U, a queer poetry night in London.
